Pioneering Material Innovation

At the core of Durafilm’s legacy is an uncompromising dedication to research and development, fueling our position at the forefront of advanced films and laminates. Our modern R&D laboratories are the birthplace of discovery, ingenuity, and practical innovation.

From the earliest stages of ideation—concept sketches, feasibility analysis, and rapid prototyping—our scientists and engineers collaborate to transform ideas into market-ready solutions. Using sophisticated modeling and simulation tools, we anticipate end-use challenges and engineer materials that outperform conventional alternatives.

Our domain expertise spans:

  • Polymer Chemistry: Developing novel resins and polymer blends with optimized molecular structures for strength, clarity, and barrier properties.

  • Composite Formulation: Designing multi-material systems that merge lightness with structural integrity, and achieving synergistic effects between resins, fibers, and additives.

  • Advanced Additive Technology: Customizing each formulation with targeted enhancements—flame retardance, antimicrobial protection, unique optical or tactile finishes.

Beyond product innovation, Durafilm’s R&D is also a collaborative enterprise. We invite clients to co-develop bespoke materials, supporting everything from pilot-scale runs to scalable industrialization. Our open partnerships with universities, research institutions, and industry groups keep us aligned with the latest scientific breakthroughs and regulatory trends.

Ultimately, every Durafilm innovation is driven by real-world end goals: greater efficiency, safety, sustainability, and competitive advantage for our partners.

Core Technology

Advanced Science. Reliable Performance.

Durafilm’s core technologies form the backbone of our superior product performance. Every innovation is the result of deliberate engineering and rigorous validation, ensuring that our films and laminates set new industry benchmarks.

PVF Films:
Leveraging a unique, fluorine-enriched molecular architecture, our polyvinyl fluoride films exhibit extraordinary resistance to ultraviolet (UV) radiation, chemicals, acids, and harsh weather. This intrinsic stability preserves appearance and function across decades of outdoor and industrial use.

Biaxial Stretching:
Durafilm films undergo precise biaxial orientation—stretching in both length and width—which generates a highly ordered, dense molecular lattice. The result: outstanding tensile strength, elasticity, and the ability to withstand greater than 100% reversible elongation without cracking.

Custom Additives:
Materials are fine-tuned through a strategic selection of additives, including:

  • Flame retardants for superior fire safety,

  • UV inhibitors for colorfastness and longevity,

  • Antimicrobial agents to prevent mold, mildew, and bacterial growth,

  • Specialty colorants for high-impact design.

Non-Stick & Easy Clean Surfaces:
Every Durafilm product is engineered for hassle-free maintenance. Our films naturally repel stains, resist chalking and mold, and withstand aggressive cleaning agents, reducing downtime and extending surface lifespan.

Thermal Tolerance:
Designed for environmental extremes, Durafilm films retain mechanical and aesthetic integrity from subarctic cold (-70°C) to sustained industrial heat (+110°C), and even temporary excursions up to 200°C. This performance ensures reliable protection across aerospace, building, and energy sectors.

Product Portfolio

Durafilm offers an extensive and evolving range of advanced film and laminate products, engineered to exceed the toughest industry demands.

PVF Films: Tailored to meet specific application requirements, Durafilm PVF films come in a wide spectrum of colors, gloss levels, and thicknesses. They are entirely free of plasticizers—resulting in superior resistance to fading, yellowing, and embrittlement—and demonstrate excellent durability even under severe mechanical and environmental stress.

Technical Laminates: Our multi-layer technical laminates combine high performance and versatility. Each laminate is precisely constructed to achieve exceptional mechanical strength, thermal or electrical insulation, fire resistance, and aesthetic appeal. Applications range from critical circuit insulation to decorative substrates in transport interiors.

Engineered Composites: For the most demanding projects, Durafilm develops custom hybrids that merge fluoropolymer films with technical fibers, nonwovens, or high-performance resins. These engineered composites provide the ultimate in lightweight strength, environmental endurance, and design adaptation—satisfying aerospace, advanced architectural, and renewable energy specifications.

Each category is supported by comprehensive technical documentation and tested according to the latest international certifications.
